What is a "public beta"?
Beta is a designation for software that is complete, but has not yet gone through all of the rigorous testing required to ensure that it is ready to be released. Software that is released as a public beta is intended to give users a preview of that software, with the ability to use it before the final release, in exchange for those users reporting any problems that they encounter. This way the software is tested by a very large group, in all of the environments where it will be used, thus ensuring that the final product is reliable and bug free. PUBLIC BETA SOFTWARE CAN, AND PROBABLY DOES, CONTAIN BUGS. IT SHOULD ONLY BE USED ON COMPUTERS THAT DO NOT CONTAIN VALUABLE DATA. |

What is a DVD image?
A DVD image is a file on your computer that is an exact duplicate of the information on your DVD. This file can then be used to make your computer think the actual DVD has been inserted, at which point you can play the DVD as you normally would. |
When attempting to image any DVD, I receive an error "Unable to create the DVD image, Can't allocate the required disk space." Why?
You are probably using an older Hard Drive File System, such as FAT32, the MS-DOS filing system. Currently, most DVDs are 4-8GB in size, meaning you must have a file system that can handle these large file sizes. We recommend that you use a newer file system, such as HFS+ or NTFS, on the hard drive you are imaging to, in order to achieve the results you desire. |
When attempting to image any DVD, I receive an error "Can't Preserve CSS Protection" or "The DVD drive in this computer has not been set to a specific region".
The first time you play a DVD in your drive, the system sets the
region code. If this has not been done, you will receive an error.
Playing a DVD in the drive should correct the issue. |
Can I share images with my friends once I've made them?
No. Drive-in only allows you to use DVD images that you made. |
Can I move a DVD image from one of my computers to another?
Yes, as long as each of your licensed versions of Drive-in is registered with the same registration name. |
Why do I have to register my version of Drive-in?
The DVD images that Drive-in makes are linked to the name that you enter during registration. This ensures that only you can use those images. |
Will my images be playable with the released version of Drive-in?
After the beta testing period has ended, we will be releasing a final version of Drive-in, which you will need to purchase if you wish to continue using your DVD images. |
How do I search for the movies once they are on my system?
You can use the Finder to browse through all of your DVD images, or you can use Spotlight to search for DVD images by title, actors, directors, studio, release date, or reviews. |
How can I access my movies from Apple's Front Row?

Can I change the information about my DVD that I received from Amazon?

Can I adjust the cover art, or supply my own?
