The login for the PDW-510P and the PDW-510 are the same "admin/pdw-510".
There is one setting in the camcorder which needs to be checked (which is not relevant on the decks).
 
The photographer needs to access the following menu from the LCD display.

        Cache/IntVal Rec - this setting must be turned OFF

When this setting is on, the camcorder continually records video into a memory buffer - when the photographer presses the record button, the camcorder dumps the video to disc.  Since this is meant to work instantly when the record button is pressed, FTP logins are disabled (to prevent someone from accessing the disc at the time the buffer memory needs to be dumped).
