Telestream Announces Flip4Mac Window Media Development Plans to Include Support for Intel-Powered Macs

Nevada City, Calif., April 21, 2006 – Telestream, the provider of award-winning Flip4Mac™ digital media tools for the Mac, today announced development plans for its Windows Media Components for QuickTime. Universal support for Intel-powered Mac computers tops Telestream’s list of key development projects currently in progress. It will be demonstrated at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Convention this month and released within the next quarter.

“Support for Apple’s new Intel-based products is a top priority for us,” said Dan Castles, CEO of Telestream.  “With over a million downloads of the Windows Media Components for QuickTime to date, user response has exceeded our expectations.  We are not only committed to ongoing support and development, but also look forward to releasing additional important new features and product enhancements which are currently in process.”

“With half our product line on Intel and more than 1,500 Universal applications available, we're ahead of schedule on the Intel transition,” said Ron Okamoto, Apple’s Vice President of Worldwide Developer Relations. “We're thrilled that Telestream will join the rapidly growing community of developers with Universal applications, as the blazing performance of our Intel-based Macs will provide a key advantage for anyone working with large, data-intensive video and audio files.”

Windows Media Components for QuickTime, powered by Flip4Mac, add Windows Media playback support to QuickTime Player and web browsers. In January, Telestream announced that Microsoft would begin free distribution of Windows Media Components for QuickTime, powered by Flip4Mac. Flip4Mac allows Mac users to view Windows Media video and audio content from within their existing QuickTime applications. It also provides the first solution for full playback of high definition Windows Media on a Mac. Other Flip4Mac Windows Media components, ranging in price from $29 to $179, provide the ability to import for editing and export Windows Media from within QuickTime-based applications.
